Community-based organizations and health care contracting

Abstract

In 2016, the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging (n4a) received a grant from The John A. Hartford Foundation to develop a National Aging and Disability Business Institute. Through this initiative, n4a and their partners focus to incorporate home and community-based social services into the healthcare continuum and create networks of social service agencies capable of contracting with healthcare entities. n4a partnered with Scripps Gerontology Center to serve as the overall project evaluator. In an effort to better understand the current landscape of community-based organization and healthcare contracting, Scripps developed a short request for information survey to be disseminated to community-based organizations (CBOs) including Area Agencies on Aging (AAA), Centers for Independent Living (CIL) and other CBOs. Using multiple dissemination efforts, the survey was in the field for 5 weeks between July and August 2017. A total of 593 respondents participated in the survey.
