Abstract
Scholarship in the Sandbox provides multiple ways that the library can support experimentation, productive failure, and amazing successes outside of our traditional roles of teaching and providing access to resources. This chapter will identify best practices librarians should follow when educating students about the copyright and advising them on rights anagement. It will also provide guidance on policies and practices libraries can adopt to help ensure they are effectively archiving the scholarly and creative works developed by students and promoting open scholarship in a way that balances the mission of the library with the rights of student creators.
